We love to travel, and we're there to help our customers every step of the way on their journeys away from home. A very profitable, growing Australian owned company, established in 2000 - we operate and run some of the biggest brands in travel insurance/services, catering to a whole range of travellers young and old. At WorldNomads Group, you will be joining a team of very talented, energetic and passionate people, working together to create amazing experiences for our customers. Last year we helped over a million travellers worldwide to stay safe and out of trouble.
In our technology/delivery department, you will join a team of around 30 technologists, solving challenging and interesting problems within a very complex domain. We have a world-class platform and we employ the best of breed technology, practices, and tools to ensure we are nimble and can respond quickly to the needs of our customers. We like to think we do things better, faster, with no egos, we strive to continuously improve. Compared to the industry, we innovate fast - with fewer people emphasising on working smarter. In this context, you’ll be working within smaller delivery teams, where we ensure that you and your team have all the skills, independence and autonomy to solve real problems that make a difference to the people that matter.
What we offer:
In exchange for your awesomeness, you will be rewarded with competitive remuneration, working with a great team, with great work life balance located at our swanky new offices at World Square. Wear casual, as we know what you wear shouldn't have a bearing on what you do. This is a truly agile environment where you will grow and have access to everything you need to succeed. You will have a generous training budget and we expect you to use it – even if the training happens to be very far away (did we say we like to travel). Week to week we expect you to be able to devote 10% to 20% of your time at work towards projects that you set for yourself, as long as it will somehow help us get better at what we do. We also try to do something 'special' every quarter to look back - reboot and reload. If you're into table-tennis you'll also have a great time, we might not have in-house chefs to prepare your food every day, but we do have a funky vending machine and better yet, the central location for you and your team to pick where and what you want to eat :-)
What are we looking for:
We need effective team players, this is a no-ego environment. Technically, you should be very strong and are able to articulate yourself to both technical and non-technical people. You should know powershell very well and can deliver an automated Windows infrastructure through an effective software configuration management tool. You should be able to share your technical and process opinions with your team - be able to put forward solutions and work together to implement outcomes. You're not afraid to run brown-bags to share your knowledge. You should be passionate about automation, know what great DevOps looks like and abreast of new tech, frameworks, and other languages. If you're a familiar face at conferences and meetups - even better.
What you should expect:
Be prepared for a complex domain that services multiple brands and a vast array of features modeled and serviced in one gigantic platform. Your primary job is to automate the provisioning and configuration of infrastructure which supports this platform. To do so you will need:
- Strong experience with Windows server (2008/2012)
- Strong in scripting and programming languages (PowerShell)
- Strong with CI/CD tools – Puppet, GIT, Octopus, TFS, MSBuild.
- Experience with Data Centre Maintenance and virtualization (VMware)
- Experience administering application servers, web servers, and databases (Microsoft IIS, SQL Server)
- Operations team experience
- AWS Server provisioning, maintaining immutable servers and a cloud-based CI/CD platform (good to have).
- Good knowledge of .net and c#
After about the 1000th resume in our inboxes, all applications start looking the same – this isn’t fair for you if you’re who we’re after. So to really cut to the chase, commit a solution you’re particularly proud of to GitHub. Ideally in C# which demonstrates your skills around dev-ops. Include the GitHub link in your application cover letter.
Take your time, no deadlines. Be pragmatic, show your awesomeness but don't over engineer - your code should reflect the level you consider yourself to be. Our team will select the solutions and responses which most identify with them and provides a compelling value proposition. Provide the GitHub link along with your application.
Applications without demonstrating sample code will not be considered.
